Brand Warranty of 1 Year Available for Mobile and 6 Months for Accessories
Company could announce the Nokia 5.1 Plus price and availability in India. The phone was announced last month alongside the Nokia 6.1 Plus, but the company did not reveal its pricing at the time and only said that it would be available in September. Seeing as how we’re nearing the end of the month, it’s likely HMD could announce its pricing any day now.
Unlike the Nokia 6.1 Plus which comes with a Snapdragon 636 chipset, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, which is a pretty powerful mid-range processor that has proven capable for mobile gaming needs, hence the teaser with the hashtag #GameOn. It seems quite unlikely that the company would announce a completely new phone right now before it officially launches the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
The Nokia 5.1 Plus and 6.1 Plus share a very similar design language that includes an edge-to-edge notched display and an all-glass design. Notably, the notch on the Nokia 5.1 Plus is bigger compared the 6.1 Plus, but HMD hasn’t included any special sensors in it. It’s probably so as to easily differentiate between the two phones. While both the phones offer a similar 5.8-inch screen size with 19:9 aspect ratios, the 5.1 Plus gets an HD+ resolution as oppoed to the FHD+ resolution on the 6.1 Plus.
As mentioned earlier, the Nokia 5.1 Plus gets a Helio P60 chipset which will be offered with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with support for expandability via a microSD card. The phone will support a dual hybrid SIM slot, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack. As for the cameras, the 5.1 Plus offers a dual camera setup on the back that includes a 13MP + 5MP configuration with LED flash. On the front, the phone comes with an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The Nokia 5.1 Plus also houses a 3,060mAh battery similar to the 6.1 Plus.
We got to spend a brief time with the Nokia 5.1 Plus at the launch last month and found it to be quite appealing, lightweight and compact much like the 6.1 Plus. The phone should definitely see a similar interest from consumers given the response to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, but it will all boil down to how competitively HMD prices the device. If it’s priced closer to Rs 10,000, the phone has a very good chance to take on the likes of the Realme 1.
